131. Asian & Hispanic Forum, Breaking Through the Glass Ceiling Successfully: Navigating Barriers
Category: Leadership/Governance
Time: Saturday, March 10, 1:00pm-2:30pm
Room: Rooms 26-27
For minority educators working within a “credentialed society,” accessing positions of leadership in school systems requires actions that are different than those who come from the “dominant” culture. For present and future minority leaders, accusations of “selling out,” “double or selective standards,” “striving to outdo Whites,” and “tokenism” come with the job. This workshop explores these issues and provides the beginnings of a toolbox that addresses the specific needs of minority leaders.
