133. J. Lloyd Trump Lecture
Bonding and Bridging: Pathways to Leadership and Learning
Category: Leadership/Governance
Time: Saturday, March 10, 1:00pm-2:30pm
Room: Room 36
Principals assume a number of roles. Among them are colleague, teacher developer, keeper of the vision, and designer of learning opportunities for teachers and students. They worry about the social supports students need and the organizational structures that support learning. But unless these roles are built on a solid foundation of bonding and bridging community they are likely to find themselves in the shoes of Dumbledore, the principal of Hogwarts School of Wizardry. Despite its many magical moments, Hogwarts is filled with competition and mean-spiritedness. If you don’t believe me, ask Harry Potter! What Dumbledore needs is some inservice on the basics of leadership, learning, and community building. Let’s talk about bonding and bridging community as it affects leadership and learning.
