258. Saving Potential Dropouts with the Carbo Reading Styles Program

Category: Curriculum & Instructional Strategies
Time: Sunday, March 11, 3:30pm-5:00pm
Room: Rooms 2-5

High school special education students averaged 2.2 years of growth or 13 NCEs in just four months in reading comprehension. The Carbo Reading Styles Program with emphasis on the Carbo Recorded Book Method was responsible for sharply increasing the reading comprehension and fluency of diverse learners. A reading lab was set up within the classroom allowing students the freedom to select their high-interest reading materials. The burden for their learning was taken away from the teacher and placed on their shoulders with fantastic results!
