This workshop presents selected ideas and practical action for leaders looking to build the next “kind” of school. Included are: strategic thinking: an overview; planning: assumptions matter, coherence matters; Planning in action: metaphorical framework, practical detail. From strategic thinking, planning, and organization emerge a series of questions and a range of ideas that have substantial value for high schools and middle schools caught in the midst of dynamic, complex change and traditional structures and ways of seeing. The session includes focused audience interaction (by school size). Handouts will be provided.
