The focus of this discussion will be a description of the new initiatives and policy focus of the new administration that took office in January 2001. The presenter will address the continuity in programs at the Department of Education as well as the changes that will be proposed for selected programs. Outlined will be the approach for the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the president’s new education budget proposal before Congress for FY 2002.
