217. Students Can (DO) Make a Difference
Category: Leadership/Governance
Time: Sunday, March 11, 9:00am-10:30am
Room: Room 40
Media and politics are rife with reports and dialogue on the failure of public schools to address the need for increased student achievement, safety, and responsible preparation for a demanding 21st Century. Hear how a small 7–12 public school addressed these and other issues through creation of a Student Leadership Institute, resulting in higher student achievement, decreased discipline problems, and increased student involvement and connection. This dynamic, interactive session, conducted by the principal, student facilitator, and student leaders, will offer ideas, skills, and motivation, along with a draft blueprint of your own student leadership project, to enable you to go home ready to fire your students up to take leading roles in the success of their school and their future.
