Time: Monday, March 12, 9:30am-11:00am
Room: Rooms 8–10
Bernards High School has received recognition as a New Jersey Service-Learning Leader School and a National Service-Learning Leader School for its unique model of service-learning schoolwide. Bernards is the first high school in the state of New Jersey to integrate service into the curriculum through an annual service requirement. The workshop will provide administrators and educators with a model for designing, implementing, and administrating service-learning at the secondary level. Through hands-on activities, participant interaction, and reflection, school personnel will be prepared to adopt service-learning as a strategy for engaging students, promoting civic responsibility, and strengthening communities. A sample service-learning handbook will be distributed to help workshop participants be more successful in program implementation.
