236. Mastering Growth-Small Learning Communities
Category: School Environment
Time: Sunday, March 3, 1:30pm-3:00pm
Room: Room 216
Sharon Buddin, 2002 National High School Principal of the Year, will share Ridge View High School's strategies for dealing with growth. Ridge View High School is a fast growing, suburban high school, and the growth they are experiencing has required the staff to use many strategies from Breaking Ranks: Changing an American Institution to nurture a sense of community while keeping the focus on raising student achievement. Schools-within-a-school, ninth grade academy, freshman mentoring program, and a system for rights and responsibilities are some of the programs Buddin will discuss.
