Designing and implementing successful adolescent literacy initiatives is a major challenge-and a recognized necessity for increased achievement. The presenters will use the Knowledge Loom Adolescent Literacy Spotlight to highlight each of the core principles of an effective adolescent literacy initiative and share concisely organized, clear definitions and descriptions, success stories, concrete strategies, resources, and related research for each core principle. Participants will complete and discuss a self-assessment tool based on the Spotlight that can form the basis for an adolescent literacy initiative at their schools.
