William Dodson's high school experienced the first major incident of school violence on October 1, 1997. Dodson knows the details of the occurrence, how the school handled the media, the effects of the tragedy on the students and community, and the steps to recovery. In addition to sharing this information, Dodson will discuss possible preventives, including the role curriculum can play. Making schools safe is a public expectation. Educators must do what they can to accomplish that end.
